Does this feel familiar?

You look capable on the outside. Inside, you're running on empty.

Burnout doesn't always look like falling apart. Sometimes it looks like carrying on while quietly disappearing from your own life.

01

You're tired in a way that sleep doesn't fully fix and you rarely feel properly restored.

02

Your mind keeps tracking jobs, worries and other people's needs even when you're meant to be resting.

03

You feel responsible for keeping work, family responsibilities or caring commitments from falling apart.

04

You know you need limits, but guilt, fear or other people's reactions make them difficult to protect.

05

You've become so used to being useful, dependable and resilient that you're not sure where your needs fit any more.

You don't need to become better at coping with a life that's exhausting you.

Being capable doesn't mean your capacity is endless. RECLAIM is about understanding what is taking too much from you, then finding realistic ways to reduce the load without pretending you can abandon every responsibility.

01

Understanding before pressure

02

Small changes before collapse

03

Support without shame

04

A life that includes you

A toolkit, not another obligation

Use RECLAIM when you need it. You don't have to work through it like homework.

You shouldn't have to research your way out of burnout while you're already exhausted. RECLAIM brings useful ideas, research and practical tools together in one place so you can go straight to the part that feels relevant today.

Read something short. Listen instead. Use one workbook page. Try one practical tool. Leave the rest until another day, or don't use it at all.

RECLAIM is there to serve you, not test you.

Your first 10 minutes

You don't need to fix everything. Start with the thing costing you most.

RECLAIM begins with a simple low-capacity route so you can get something useful from it without committing to hours of reading or another enormous plan.

01

Identify

Ask one question: what is draining me most right now? Start there rather than trying to understand your whole life at once.

02

Choose

Pick one practical action, tool or resource that fits the problem and the capacity you actually have today.

03

Stop

That's enough. You can close RECLAIM and get on with your day. Come back when you want something else.

No streaks. No falling behind. No guilt because you haven't finished Module 4.

What RECLAIM can help you work towards

Practical changes that make more sense than simply telling you to rest.

01

Understand what's draining you

See how mental load, work, family roles, people pleasing and coping patterns may be working together.

02

Reduce the load realistically

Identify what can change even when work, caring or family responsibilities cannot simply disappear.

03

Protect your capacity without becoming uncaring

Work with boundaries, guilt and over-functioning without being told to become harsh or cut everyone off.

04

Make more room for you

Use gentle nervous-system tools and begin rebuilding rest, identity, joy and choice alongside your responsibilities.

Inside RECLAIM

Choose the kind of support your brain has capacity for today.

The same idea doesn't have to arrive in the same format every day. Read, listen, reflect or use something practical.

01 · Read

eBooks and written guides

Clear explanations covering burnout, mental load and the patterns that can keep capable women carrying too much.

02 · Listen

Audio versions

Use audio when reading feels like too much, whether you're resting, walking or simply trying to get through the day.

03 · Reflect

Workbooks and prompts

Use the questions that help and leave the rest. They're invitations to reflect, not homework to finish.

04 · Regulate

Nervous-system tools

Simple techniques for moments when your system feels braced for the next demand and “just relax” isn't especially useful advice.

05 · Protect capacity

Boundaries and hidden patterns

Explore people pleasing, over-functioning, hyper-independence, toxic resilience, guilt and the difficulty of putting yourself back into the equation.

A different way forward
You don't need another enormous list of things to feel guilty about not doing.

Recovery should reduce pressure, not become another job. RECLAIM gives you options, not homework.

Who, how and why

Why RECLAIM exists and what it's built on.

At First Unseen was created because exhaustion can remain invisible for years when you're the person everyone expects to cope.

Who

Created by Sammy at At First Unseen

RECLAIM grew from Sammy's own experience of burnout and the difficulty of trying to understand what was happening while already exhausted. At First Unseen is for women whose capacity has been hidden behind competence, responsibility and being the one who keeps going.

How

Research translated into something usable

RECLAIM brings together research undertaken for the programme, psychology-informed learning, four years of personal therapy and lessons from other therapeutic practices Sammy found helpful. The aim is to turn useful ideas into clear, practical resources rather than present them as clinical treatment.

Why

Because “just rest” doesn't solve a life that can't simply stop

Women may still have work, family responsibilities, caring commitments and people relying on them. RECLAIM focuses on practical ways to understand and reduce pressure inside real life rather than pretending recovery only begins once every demand disappears.

The goal isn't to care less. It's to care as much about yourself as you do for others.
For those who want the detail

The RECLAIM Method

You don't need to learn the whole framework before deciding whether RECLAIM is for you. Open it if you'd like to see how the seven areas fit together.

Explore all seven RECLAIM stages

RECLAIM can support you when you're becoming overwhelmed, still functioning but heading towards breaking point, at breaking point or rebuilding afterwards. You don't have to complete these in order.

Recognise

Tell the truth about where you are. Notice the warning signs you may have been minimising.

Examine

Find the pattern beneath the pressure. Explore how work, family roles, beliefs and your body's signals may connect.

Clarify capacity

Stop planning from an imaginary full battery. Work with the capacity you actually have now.

Limit over-functioning

Help without automatically taking over. Notice where you're carrying people or systems at your own expense.

Ask for support

Stop making your capacity invisible. Find ways to let safe people or professionals know what's really happening.

Integrate joy

Build a life that's more than duty. Make room for ordinary pleasure, rest, creativity and connection.

Maintain boundaries

Make change more sustainable. Keep noticing your limits before resentment or exhaustion takes over.

Questions you may have

RECLAIM FAQs

Open only the questions that matter to you.

Is RECLAIM only for eldest daughters?

No. Eldest daughters may recognise many of the patterns, but RECLAIM is for any woman who feels over-responsible, mentally exhausted, trapped in people pleasing or used to being the person who keeps everything together.

I'm already overwhelmed. Will I have the energy for this?

RECLAIM has been designed around limited capacity. You don't need to complete hours of work or follow a perfect order. Start with the 10-minute route, use one resource and stop.

  • Short resources you can return to
  • Written and audio options
  • No deadline or required completion order
What if my situation can't change right now?

You may not be able to leave your job, change family dynamics or reduce caring responsibilities. RECLAIM doesn't assume you can. It focuses on what may still be available to you, including what you automatically take on, how visible you make your capacity, where you can share responsibility and how you respond to pressure.

What makes RECLAIM different from generic burnout or self-help advice?

RECLAIM looks beyond productivity and time management. It explores the patterns that can keep capable women carrying too much, including people pleasing, over-functioning, hyper-independence, guilt, mental load and nervous-system responses.

It is also deliberately designed so that recovery doesn't become another project you have to perform perfectly.

Is this therapy or counselling?

No. RECLAIM is educational and reflective. It draws on lived experience, research, psychology-informed learning and lessons from personal therapeutic experiences. It doesn't diagnose or treat mental health conditions and isn't a substitute for care from a doctor, therapist, counsellor or other suitably qualified professional.

How long will I have access?

You'll have lifetime access to RECLAIM. Future RECLAIM materials and updates will be added to your access at no extra cost.

What happens after I join?

You'll receive access to RECLAIM and the private community. Start with the 10-minute route, then choose between reading, listening, reflecting or using a practical tool. You'll also receive regular emails designed to support the themes inside RECLAIM.

A clear next step, not another life overhaul

You don't need to change your whole life today.

If you're ready to stop waiting for life to become less demanding before you take care of yourself, you can start with one small part of RECLAIM today.

There is no pressure to finish everything. Start with 10 minutes, take what helps and stop when you've had enough for today.
